From retro gaming systems to remastered games, gamers seem to love their nostalgic experiences. Which is probably why Sony today announced the PlayStation Classic – an (almost) palm-sized recreation of the original PlayStation console, preloaded with 20 classic games.
According to Sony, the mini console is 45% smaller than the original.
“The design of PlayStation Classic perfectly mirrors the original console, with the same logo, button layout and packaging – but 45% smaller than 1994’s PlayStation. This miniature console comes with an HDMI cable to connect to your TV complete with two wired controllers, plus a virtual memory card to save your adventures as you switch between titles,” Sony explains on the website.
Well… what kind of games are you getting with it? Sony’s hasn’t been too forthcoming about it, but it revealed that Final Fantasy VII, TEKKEN 3, R4: Ridge Racer Type 4, Jumping Flash! and Wild Arms are included.
Until we hear otherwise, the console only seems to be available in the US for now, with pre-orders being opened at two retailers. The mini console is due to launch on 3 December for around $100.
