The World Electronic Sports Games is entering its final stages of the APAC regionals in China, and a number of female South Africans have been competing for the top spots.
Jana ‘SaltyMoneky’ du Toit managed to make her way to the semi-finals, where she unfortunately lost 4-3 to DawnLiooon.
In her first match du Toit drew a bye against NazziDesu, allowing her to enter the semi-finals against DawnLiooon.
After the lost, du Toit moved into the 3rd/4th place playoff, where she was defeated by littleaurora with a score of 4-2.
According to WESG, the top two players from the female Hearthstone regionals will be entered into the global finals.
“Congratulations on Yan from Hongkong, China, to be the Champion of WESG2017 APAC Finals HearthStone Women’s group. Eight players took part in the regional APAC finals. In the semifinals Yan defeated Pathra, while DawnLiooon prevailed over SaltyMonkey. In the final clash, Yan overwhelmed DawnLiooon with a score of 4:2, both of them advantage at the upcoming global finals in China,” it said on the WESG website.
While du Toit didn’t manage to place in a payout position or enter the finals, finishing 4th from a pool of eight players is still a huge achievement for any South African.
In the female CSGO competition, LeetPro’s female team lost to 2-0 to No IdeA, knocking them out of the competition having played only one match.
“Unfortunately our girls have been eliminated from WESG but we’re extremely proud of them for having come this far! We look at this as a great experience that can only help us grow,” LeetPro wrote on Twitter.
