There seems to be an even bigger battle brewing between Comic Con Africa and rAge, as the two geek and electronic conventions will be going toe-to-toe come next year’s convention season.
NAG – the company behind rAge, announced earlier that 2019’s gaming festival will be held on September 27 to September 29. But Comic Con Africa announced its own dates today, and its only four days before rAge, running September 21 to September.
This take full advantage of the public holiday in September, and it also announced that the venue will change to the Gallagher Convention Centre.
“To accommodate more fans and more exciting activities for all, #ComicConAfrica will take place over 4 days including Heritage Day (21-24 September 2019) at Gallagher Convention Centre!” it said in a tweet.
The inaugural Comic Con Africa was held at the Kyalami Racetrack this year, and brought with it a host of issues – which will hopefully be rectified by a venue shift. Parking was a major problem, as well as the distances that visitors had to walk in order to get to the stands.
While no further details, like guest appearance, have been announced yet, it will be interesting to see what it will do to rAge’s attendance. This year rAge saw a decline of about 1500 visitors, as Comic Con was only two before.
